The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has released its consultation draft for the 2026 review of the Advertising Standards Code, the core code that applies across all advertising media and categories in New Zealand. Consultation closes on 22 June 2026.

This is an important review. The proposed changes touch on a number of areas highly relevant to advertisers, agencies and media owners, including:

  • Decency and offensiveness

  • Environmental claims and greenwashing
