Pre-vetting and Industry Collaboration

ANZA administers the Liquor Advertising and Promotion Pre-vetting Service (LAPPS), a unique industry-led system designed to ensure alcohol advertising complies with the ASA Code and relevant laws before the advertising reaches the public.

LAPPS serves as a proactive filter, enabling brands, agencies, and media to pre-emptively identify and rectify any issues with alcohol advertising content, timing, or placement that could breach social responsibility standards or legal restrictions.

Pre-vetting through LAPPS helps maintain industry integrity and consumer confidence while protecting the social licence to advertise alcohol responsibly.

This collaborative effort among alcohol producers, advertisers, agencies, and media ensures consistent application of standards that reflect best practices internationally as well as New Zealand-specific regulations.

LAPPS demonstrates ANZA’s commitment to self-regulation as an adjunct to government oversight, positioning the industry as a responsible partner in managing alcohol marketing risks.
