Television Broadcasters Council report a resurgence in TV advertising with 7.7% revenue growth for the second quarter of 2010 and 5.4% YTD. Television revenue for the second quarter of 2010 was $149 million, an increase of $10.5 million or 7.7% from the $138.5 million achieved in the second quarter of 2009. This is the second consecutive quarter of year on year growth for the industry. These revenue figures are sourced from returns prepared by TVNZ, MediaWorks TV and SKY Network Television (including Prime).

For the first half of 2010, Television has seen revenue growth of $13.9 million over 2009, an increase of 5.4% over the first half of 2009.

ANZA GM Lindsay Mouat commented that while advertising expenditure remained below 2008 levels, there was strong evidence of renewed investment in traditional media this year, including television, print and radio as well continued double-digit growth in digital. This was expected to continue through the balance of the year as advertisers showed renewed confidence in advertising investment.
